PodXT patches

As you can read on the page "Recording" I am a enthusiastic user the Line6 PodXt. You can connect this device to the USB port of your pc, or you can connect it directly to your guitar amp as a replacement of your stompboxes. With the PodXt you can have the sound of countless number of amplifiers, cabinets, stompboxes, reverbs, compressors and so on. All parameters of all these elements can be controlled ("tweaked"), what gives you an immense number of possibilities to create your own sound (or to imitate the sound of your personal guitar hero). In my opinion for the "home recording" guitar player a device like this is a must. Not only for your guitarsound, but also because the PodXT can be used as a very good (24 bits) external soundcard. Check the line6 site for more information.

As an addition to the standard sounds found in de PodXt when you buy it, there is also the possibility to buy "model packs" with which you can expand your library of sounds. I possessed all Model Packs and tested them thoroughly but in my opinion they do not add a lot of interesting features to the standard options. The standard package has everything I need.

Besides making your own sounds, PodXt sounds can also be downloaded from the internet. An excellent Line6 service is an online database (CustomTone.com) where you can upload sounds you created, or where you can download patches made by all kind of "sound artists".

All guitars you hear on my songs are recorded using the PodXt. You can listen to some musical samples containing them overhere. Part of them I created myself, others are downloaded and most of the time tweaked a little bit. Keep in my mind that I play a stratocaster, and I didn't tried them on other guitars. Well, download them and try for yourself:

PodXt patches (free download):

Jazz: a sound I started to use for my jazz exercises But it turned out to be such a versatile sound that I use it a lot now. It's based on the famous Vox AC30 with a little compression. Especially on the neck pick-up it sounds great. A heavy attack gives a little warm distortion. You can use it for anything: blues, jazz, fusion, pop.....

Lead: a very thick lead sound based on the Hiwatt amp. You can turn of the delay to get a more precise sound. Sounds good on the neck as well on the bridge pick-up.

Gilmours rig: excellent sound for the guitar in the background, especially for chords. With a heavy attack it's dirty and with a bite. With a smooth attack it's a very polite and nice sound. You can use it with both pick-ups (bridge, neck).

Acoustic: to create an acoustic sound on a stratocaster is very difficult. This comes a little bit close. Especially nice in the two and four pick-up position (the pick-up in between positions: bridge/middle, neck/middle).

Clean chorus: what can I say about this sound: a wide sounding clean chorus. Can be used with all pick-up combinations.

Leslie Heaven: a sound I found on the internet (but don't know where anymore - thanks to the guy who made it). A full spacy Leslie sound, can be used in all kinds of music,

Police: The Andy Summers sound in the time he played with the Police in the seventies.

Nice, hate it? Let me know, you can mail me here. And sure, I'm interested in your patches also!
